CCO marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Richard Strauss with his charming Duet Concertino for Bassoon and Clarinet in our first concert in 2014. The performance opens with Stephen McNeff's short, lyrical work Sinfonia. This peice was inspired by the symphonies of William Boyce and was composed during McNeff’s recent residency with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. Two works by Sibelius - the melancholic Valse Triste and his inspiring Third Symphony - conclude the programme.
