The contrasting musical traditions of classical Vienna and inter-war Berlin are brought together in the closing concert of the 2013-2014 season. We begin with Schubert's enigmatic and unfinished Eighth Symphony. Weill's rarely performed Second Symphony is an absolute gem of a work which conveys all the spirit of his more familiar theatrical output in a symphonic form.
