To mark the 130th anniversary of the work's London première - at the former St James Hall in Piccadilly - our March concert features arguably Dvořák's finest symphony, the Seventh, steeped in Czech melodies. Elgar's epic and quintessentially English Violin Concerto makes up the rest of the programme, with Mathieu Van Bellen playing the virtuosic solo part. Adrian Brown, whose previous performances of Elgar and Dvořák have been particularly special, conducts.
