David Keen

David Keen holds an Advanced Diploma of Music in Violin and a Bachelor of Music in Conducting from Flinders Street School of Music, Adelaide, South Australia. He also holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from Birkbeck, University of London.

While in Adelaide David studied violin with Bogdan Kazimierczak and Kaj Ingerslev and conducting with Carl Crossin.  He directed the Flinders University Choral Society and was the musical director for a number of award winning musical theatre productions with Northern Light Theatre Company.  He also sang in the National Youth Choir of Australia.

In 1999 he moved to London and studied conducting with Alan Hazeldine of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

David has taught violin, both privately and at several schools in South Australia and since coming to the UK has been involved in community music work with the Girl Guides Association.

David is the Musical Director of the Austral Sinfonietta, a London based chamber orchestra, and has worked with other amateur orchestras including the Stevenage Symphony Orchestra and the Corinthian Chamber Orchestra.

David also plays violin in the Corinthian Chamber Orchestra and has sung with a number of London based choirs including, Collegium Musicum of London and The Apollo Singers.

In 2002 David was awarded a grant from the Tillett Trust.
